Thank you!

Let's celebrate! Take your cyber seat and try this cake.

I came to the UAE in May 2005 and started blogging in December 2006. I was alone because my family hadn't joined me yet here in Al Ain. If my memory serves me right, homesickness was the main reason why I started a personal blog to record my thoughts on living and working here in the sandpit. It was one fine day when I was browsing the net that I stumbled upon a photoblog. It tickled my interest in photography and finally in November 2009, I started this photoblog to share my photos....and the rest is history.

To date, it has been 6 years that I am trying my very best to survive here in the sandpit. Having said that, I want to thank all the people who made my life a lot better. And most of all, I thank GOD for the all the blessings bestowed upon me and that includes my family, my colleagues, my friends, my host country and YOU...yes! it's you....for being a part of my virtual journey.

This post is linked to Ruby Tuesday.
Word of the day: inti (feminine)/inta(masculine) is the Arabic word for you. Salaam!

  1. Moving seven years ago to a foreign country myself, surely an entry much felt and understood.

Wishing you all a kind and nice future.

it's bloggie friends like you that makes blogging more meaningful and interesting.
like you, I once had a personal blog too, then gave it up, years passed, while browsing thru a blogger from Japan I stumbled upon Eric's Cdp and finally decided to post about Manila,
at first, hesitant bec, seriously, even though I live here all my life, i said to myself, what's there to blog about it? mas marami pang negative kaysa positive.
    but,tnx to my new project,
i learn to slowly appreciate the city and more.

ps: lovely red cake btw. ^0^

  5. When I moved to this country a looong time ago, laptops and blogging was not in yet. To overcome homesickness, I was crocheting and I had given away (as presents) afghans and baby blankets.

Blogging and photography go hand in hand. More power to you and your family adjusting life in a new world.

  6. I love your cake. How did you design that flower icing? Would love to know how. Welcome to the blogging world. Nice meeting you here. Would love you to visit my Ruby Tuesday page here.

  7. Yummy looking.

I also started my photoblog in 2006, so in July I am celebrating my 5th year. Time flies when youre taking pictures isn't it?

  8. Love-ly cake. It takes a lot of courage to start a new life thousands of km from home, friends and family. I know, we both did it a few times, individually and together. But then... sometimes it becomes home. And you make yourself new friends.

  9. I want a piece of that cake, Misalyn. Hope you can send some to Pinas haha!

Congratulations on your blog's anniversary. I am happy and proud to have "met" a kind-hearted person like you.

Here's to more years of blogging, here to more years or snapping away great photos!

  10. Thank you, for a very nice and interesting blog, plus the music! Please keep up the good work, and enjoy blogging in the years to come.
