Majlis

A majlis is the Arabic word for a sitting room. It can be found inside the house or in a khaimah(tent) built outside of the house (which I noticed in some of the houses here in Al Ain). Generally, it is understood to be the room in which the visitors guests are entertained by the host. Usually, tea or coffee are being served to the visitors along with date fruits or sweets.

Photos shown above were taken at Al Ain Palace Museum sometime in July 2010.
Word of the day: khaimah is the Arabic word for tent. Salaam!
