Sand dunes and Hajar Mountain

Taken last Wednesday, around  04:00 P.M. at Naima District, around 2 kms away from Jebel Hafeet, the second highest mountain here in UAE. It was a sunny day with clear blue sky and the temperature was just fine with 16 degree celsius. Thanks to my ever reliable compact digicam, I managed to take these shots even if I was a bit dizzy.

"To see a world in a grain of sand, And heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour."
~William Blake

Let us offer a prayer for the survivors of the recent earthquake in Haiti and let us hope that they get through this difficult time.

This post is linked to Skywatch Friday hosted by Klaus with Team members Sandy, Slyvia, Wren, Louise and Fishing Guy. Thank you Skywatch Team.

Word of the day:  hajar is the arabic term for stone or rock. Salaam to all! Happy skywatching!

  6. It is so strange to see this and think it is normal.
When my parents lived in Colorado, there are places that look exactly like that and when i would pass them, I felt like I was on the moon.

  9. Sand - what a nice reflection of life. Holding in the hand, one can decide how to "use" it. Having the hand closed as strong as possible, one will notice how it runs away, leaving it wide open without any pressure at all, it remains.
Wonderful photography indeed. Please have you all a nice Friday.

  29. i love sand dunes, Misalyn. some may not like desert landscapes, but i am in total awe of desert's different character, and one of them is the sand dunes, the ripples created by wind is just so magical for me
